Your ESID Number:

  • This is a unique number code that you need in order to access your own personal data online. It can be obtained from any Department of Vehicle and Driver's Licensing offices upon presentation of your Cayman Islands Driver's Licence or through the Call Center. Once you register online with this number, you can then enter your account with just an email and password. You do not have to remember this long number.
  • If you need to access your registered account but cannot come into the office, please give DVDL a call on (345) 945-8344. In some cases, ESID numbers are being sent by SMS text messages to the mobile number on file. These SMS messages are being sent at the beginning of the month in which your driver’s licence expires. This information and instructions can be emailed to you by contacting the Call Center.

Registration of your ESID number:

  • Before entering the Registered User portal you must first register using your ESID number and driver’s licence number. Please follow this link to register.

ALL online application documents can be collected from the Customer Service Desk at the Crewe Road location, this is only necessary if you are collecting a paper coupon or driver’s licence.

Typically an email is sent to the email addresses provided as part of the online application process. The email will contain the payment receipt as an attachment and any further actions will be detailed in the body of the email. Some of our standard email responses for online applications contain instructions to pick up documents from DVDL.

Vehicle license renewal documents can be mailed to the owner’s mailing address on our files if requested and a paper coupon is needed. If you have renewed your licence but your postal address printed on your driver’s licence is different to your present postal address, please contact DVDL immediately.

All driver’s licence renewals  that were done during the Covid-19 lockdown can be collected from the Customer Service Desk at the Crewe Road office.

It is only necessary to come to the department if your service needs cannot be met by the departments’ online services or through the Call Center.

  • It is only necessary to come to the department if it is an application that needs to be made in person. Documents for renewed registrations can be mailed if a paper coupon for the old plates (yellow & orange) is still needed.
  • Your renewal documents (for your vehicle) will be emailed to you. If you have renewed your driver’s licence, please use your receipt as proof of renewal. Drivers’ licence and paper coupons can be collected from the Customer Service Desk at Crewe Road.
  • Once you have submitted the online application (for the renewal of your vehicle or driver’s licence) you will receive TWO emails from DVDL. The first email is to confirm that DVDL has received your renewal application. The second email will confirm that the renewal process has been completed. Keep these emails!
