If using the “Guest User” portal you can submit a renewal application on behalf of another person or company. Please ensure that the correct information is submitted on behalf of the registered owner. There must be in  place a valid policy/certificate of insurance or cover note for the vehicle in question.

By renewing early, you ensure that you will never unknowingly drive your vehicle with an expired licence. Under the Traffic Act you can renew your vehicle’s licence up to 6 months before the expiry date of the licence. However, the online portal will allow you entry to renew your vehicle up to 1 month prior to the expiry of the vehicle’s licence.

(Ref to Wendy)

An early renewal application will not deny you of the days still left on your present vehicle’s licence. Instead the new licence period will be added onto your current one and will include the days remaining on the present licence.

If you cannot gain access to the Guest User portal there are two main rules for the portal that may be preventing you access:

  • You must have at least 3 clear months or 90 days left on your inspection (Certificate of Roadworthiness); or
  • The portal will only allow you to renew your vehicle licence for a maximum of 1 month prior to expiry.

For the Registered User portal, please ensure that you have first registered your account using your unique ESID number. Once this is done you should be able to access the portal.

Under the Traffic Act, the  Certificate of Roadworthiness certifies that your vehicle is roadworthy for the period stated. Locally, it is also simply referred to as an inspection. The length of time that an inspection can be granted  is at the discretion of the inspector doing the evaluation based on the condition of the vehicle.
